Traditiegetrouw
werd er de avond voor de Friese Ballonfeesten een "boerenavond"
gehouden. Uit alle landeigenaren waar men in het afgelopen jaar
geland is wordt een aantal uitgeloot om deze avond mee te maken.
Na een gezamenlijke maaltijd werd er met de boeren een
ballonvaart gemaakt. Vanwege de regen van de afgelopen dagen
werd er niet opgestegen op de Nutsbaan. Dit terrein, waar de
ballonnen tijdens de Friese Ballonfeesten altijd opstijgen, was
er slecht aan toe en moest ook de komende dagen nog gebruikt
worden. Daarom werd uitgeweken naar het nabijgelegen
industrieterrein, waar vanaf twee velden de volgende ballonnen
opstegen:
